It has only been since Susan’s retirement back to Perth at the beginning of 2004 that she has had the time to develop her love of art. Susan’s mother and aunt, both watercolourists, encouraged her to try watercolours.
April 2007 Susan was accepted as an associate member to the Watercolour Society of WA. This enabled her to attend meetings and with the encouragement and support of members she re-submitted in May 2008 and was accepted as a full member. Susan maintains the society’s website and is Vice President of the Society.
Susan’s love of flowers has influenced her choice of subjects for painting.
She has been enjoying exploring the world of mixed media, attending workshops at Bathurst Winter School 2009, 2011 and Albany Summer School 2009 & 2010. Susan has been experimenting with some of the techniques she has learnt into creating innovative ways with watercolour using fabrics and gesso to create interesting backgrounds to work on.
Photography has become a big part in Susan's life and is taking a lot of her time these days. She still likes to keep her hand in with watercolours and attends a weekly painting group of whom many are members of the Watercolour Society.
Susan is a member of the WA Society of Arts. Awards: October 2008 “Best in Show” Watercolour Society of WA Annual Awards Exhibition for “Spring Rhapsody"
